Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to K5 Landscapes, where we blend creativity and expertise to craft stunning outdoor spaces. Below, you’ll find our ‘FAQ’, answers to frequently asked questions about our services, process, and commitment to excellence.
How do I set a budget for landscaping?
Determining the cost of landscaping can be a challenging task as it involves several variables that depend on specific site information and objectives of a homeowner. However, as a general rule, budgeting 10-20% of your home’s current value for outdoor and landscaping improvements can be a good starting point.
To make the most out of your investment, consider projects that expand your living space and add low-maintenance beauty to your property.

What is a plot plan?
A plot plan, which is also known as an ILC or survey, is a scaled drawing of your property boundaries and the house and other structures located on the plan. Typically, you would have received one at the time of purchasing your house, and it should be included in your closing documents. However, if you did not receive one or have lost it, you can obtain a copy from your local city or county offices.
If you need a new plot plan, ask Kristin or our team can help facilitate the creation of one for you. Once we have an accurate plot plan, we will visit your property to measure and evaluate existing site elements.
Can we divide the project into phases?
Definitely! The purpose of a comprehensive masterplan is to envision your ideal outdoor space, which may need to be implemented in phases. We collaborate with homeowners to develop a phased plan for their projects. We can provide guidance on identifying the most practical steps, considering your timeline and budget.
How long does the process of creating a master landscape plan take?
The design process typically takes 6-8 weeks and depends on seasonal volume, client involvement and availability, project size, and permitting/HOA submittals.

Why invest in a landscape design from K5 Landscapes?
Having a well-planned strategy for your space is crucial. Our team will create a Masterplan that will serve as a roadmap for both you and our installation crew. This plan will provide all the necessary information to bring your design to life. We have collaborated with you to identify your goals and priorities for the project, which ensures that we can keep the project focused.
How can I be sure I am going to like the final plan?
Our team of highly qualified and experienced designers will collaborate with you to create a landscape that reflects your personality and style. We begin by getting to know you and your family, and understanding how you intend to use your landscape. We set goals and priorities to guide us from the design stage to installation and final walkthrough. We refine the plan until it meets your satisfaction and the design of your dreams is realized.
